American Salon

In an ideal world, we would all have our surroundings in perfect harmony with our inner beings. To some, this could mean a retro, 1940’s style that takes them back to their grandmothers’ kitchens, where diner-like tables and chrome-and-vinyl chairs sat atop checkerboard linoleum floors. To others, it could be the look of classical Greece and Rome: majestic columns, grand spaces, and sculptural forms. To Israeli-born Yuki Sharoni, owner of Yuki Sharoni Beauty & Lifestyle salon and day spa in Beverly Hills, it means “Balance”- and not just visual/” I had a vision for many years to have an ‘institute’ for everything I believe in, starting from what I eat to lifestyle in general,” says Sharoni. “At Yuki Sharoni Beauty & Lifestyle, we provide it all, from food to skincare to hair.”

Sharoni’s desire to provide a seamless rapport between beauty and lifestyle started early, and at a young age, he opened his first salon in his parents’ home in Israel. After later moving to Tel Aviv and opening a salon within two years, he quickly became the country’s hottest celebrity stylist. To further expand the horizons of his business and creativity, he then moved to Los Angeles where, in 1991, he opened hair by Yuki Sharoni, located on Camden Drive in Beverly Hills. “The salon was a block west of Rodeo Drive; we did hair and nails mostly. Then, about two years ago, I found this location and started looking into it; it took about a year to put it together. The building used to be a flower shop and hadn’t been touched in 25 years,” Sharoni recalls.

Finally, Sharoni was ready to create what was to him the perfect synthesis: a salon and day spa inspired by ancient wisdom yet enhanced by modern science. To help him with the renovation process, Sharoni called upon Los Angels-based architect Jeff Coga, a friend of a friend. “Jeff was open to working together, and I really liked his vision. He would show me samples of materials he was considering, and I would tell him in what direction I wanted to go. If I had left it all up to him, the whole place would have looked more masculine. But I wanted balance, and now the downstairs (the salon) has the masculine feel of a New York City Loft, while the upstairs (the spa) has a very feminine feeling,” Sharoni notes.

Sticking true to his desire to make the salon and day spa reflect his philosophy of balance, which sharoni believes creates true mental, physical, and spiritual health, he lept a holistic outlook when choosing the products and services. (The body treatments and facials are all enhanced by Susan Ciminelli’s products, and hair care products range from L’Oreal’s Kerastase - a Sharoni favorite - to MOP, Phillip Kingsley, and Bumble & Bumble.) Along with the soothing Ambiance created with renovation, guests can partake in aromatherapy, healthy foods provided fresh daily from the local caterer Ammo, and a host of nurturing products and services, such as the hour long H2O Therapy, which is a healing hydrotherapy treatment that combines essential oils and algae to remove toxins and relax tight muscles followed by exfoliation.

Since Sharoni realizes that some guests may be tight on time, he recetly created the Beauty Lunch from Tuesdays to Friday’s, which offers 16 different services and includes a catered lunch - with a guarantee to be in and out in an hour. Now, That’s what I call Zen.
